What People Are Asking
If you want to submit a question, submit it by CLICKING HERE
📍 Q1: How do I find housing for the visually impaired and blind?
✅ A: The best way to find out is to go to Chatgpt.com and ask it this → “Are there specific housing options for low vision/blind individuals in ~wherever you live?” AI is great at finding immediate answers about questions you have, just try it, it’s amazing.
📍 Q2: What hobby should I pursue if I have low vision?
✅ A: A very broad question, but something so important. It’s so important to have hobbies to not lose your mind. I personally love to listen to business podcasts and I’m still able to play video games and watch sports if i’m 6 inches from my 55” TV, which I’m grateful for. Audiobooks are a great option, small woodworking projects, other crafts, baking, cooking, etc. I have a low vision friend that loves to go kayaking with a friend of his. Get together with someone or a loved one and explore what’s possible with your level of vision.
Product Tip Of The Week
What this product can do will blow your mind. I’ve had them for 6 months now. While no tech is perfect, this one has some amazing features, let’s dive into the best ones. They are a little pricey and this is not something that will help you see better, it will help with certain tasks. Get yours on Amazon Here
The “Be My Eyes” Feature:
You can initiate a live video call with a sighted volunteer. This feature allows the volunteer to see through the glasses' camera and provide real-time assistance with tasks like reading labels, navigating unfamiliar environments, or identifying objects.Object Recognition
Using voice commands such as “Look and tell me what you see,” the glasses can identify and describe objects in your surroundings, aiding in tasks like locating personal items or understanding the environment.Text Reading
Commands like “Look and read this” enable the glasses to read printed text aloud, which is useful for reading signs, menus, or documents.Audio Navigation Support
While they’re not a replacement for dedicated navigation tools, the glasses can assist with general orientation by describing visible landmarks and surroundings, helping you to navigate spaces more confidently.Voice-Controlled Media Capture
You can capture photos or short videos using voice commands, allowing you to document experiences hands-free, which can be shared with others or used for personal reference.Real-Time Assistance in Public Spaces
In situations like navigating airports or shopping centers, the combination of AI features and live assistance through Be My Eyes can help users find your way, locate services, or identify obstacles.Continuous Updates and Feature Expansion
Meta is actively developing and expanding the capabilities of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, including enhancing AI functionalities and integrating with additional accessibility services, which promises ongoing improvements for users.
Some of you may not like the idea of AI, but they have changed some aspects of my life for the better, and they have multiple style optons as well On Amazon. I of course went with the clear option as sunglasses are not a friend of mine as they make things darker. They are stylish and don’t come across as “Hey, look at me, I’m visually impaired:

The Personal Touch
Gratitude is something I struggle with. I don’t want to focus on what I don’t have (vision-wise) and forget about what I do have.
But it’s so hard.
I’m very fortunate to have an amazing support system around me, and if you don’t have that AND you’re losing your eyesight, I’m so so sorry.
Everyone deserves to have someone.
If you don’t have someone, I really encourage you to get out (safely) and meet some people. They don’t need to be blind or visually impaired, but meet some people that can take you to do some awesome things, that you can talk to, that you can hang out with. This will do wonders for your mental health.
Be grateful for how much or how little you do have, I promise it’ll make it easier to get up every day.
Everyone is going through something, we’re not alone in this.
Let’s try this week to be positive and grateful!
